CHALLENGE

We started texting our patients during the Covid-19 pandemic and couldn’t go back to phone calls.

We needed a better way to communicate with parents during the pandemic, since they weren’t coming into the office with their kids. Business texting was such a great addition to our team that we continued texting long after the pandemic ended, until our business texting provider shut down.

APPROACH

Text Request quickly migrated all our contacts over from our previous business texting provider—plus gave us new features to customize our messages to those contacts, like Merge Fields.

One of our new favorite features is Text Request’s autoresponder, which gives us the power to automatically respond to clients, even when we’re not in the office. The templates feature also saves our front desk a ton of time, so we’re not constantly typing the same message again and again. 

We text our patients to confirm appointments and send follow-up information, including helpful video links. Our orthodontist has recorded videos specifically so they can be texted via link to our patients. These cleaning and maintenance video links help our patients form healthy habits and have an overall better experience.

Text Request is also a way faster solution to collecting insurance information over text, since parents can just quickly send us pictures of their insurance cards. We’ll also text parents pictures of their kid after their braces are removed, so they know their child is ready for pickup.

It’s overall a much smoother experience for us and our patients.

Since we mostly serve children, the majority of the people who text us are our patients’ parents. These parents have jobs that don’t always allow them to pick up the phone and take calls from our office—but we know we can always reach them by text. Text Request makes it so much easier for us to actually connect with our patients’ parents, so we can get appointments scheduled and rescheduled as needed.
